William Shakespeare’s
‘A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM’

Wessex Actors Company is a brand new professional theatre company based in Dorset. Our aim is to bring exciting and innovative theatre to the South Coast.

Conceived in 2010 by renowned, multi-award-winning, local director Jo Puttick, WAC’s first production will be Shakespeare’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, touring several open air venues throughout July 2011.

Combining some of the best local talent and beautiful period costumes this promises to be a highlight of the theatrical year.  Jo’s talent, directorial skills and enthusiasm for Shakespeare will ensure that even Shakespeare phobic’s will soon be converted!  With Jo’s skill for dragging out every bit of comedy, plus street-dancing fairies and a Puck with a, big, big difference, you’re sure to be rolling in the aisles – well on the grass in our case!

With time to enjoy a picnic in beautiful surroundings, what better way to spend a day with family and friends?  Especially young family, as ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ is such a great introduction to Elizabethan drama, having romance, fun and fantasy and the superb wonderfully flowing language that makes this many people’s favourite Shakespearian play.

Each performance day offers both a matinée and early evening performance to choose from.
‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ plays in the Walled Garden, Upton Country Park on 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th July then moves to Charlton Down Cricket Club, near Dorchester on 23rd July, Poundbury on 24th July and Swanage and Wareham Rugby Ground at Wareham on 31st July. Performances are 1pm and 6pm with gates opening for picnics at 11.30am and 4.30pm.
